God's Sabbath Truth...a decision to make

The release of a book on the Sabbath by the late Charlie Kirk has generated intense interest in God’s Sabbath. That interest has been magnified by the Heritage Foundation’s Project2025. The proposals of this pro-Catholic organization  is rapidly being implemented by the Trump Administration.  It  advocates for Sunday sacredness to benefit workers.  The organization has intensified its calls for establishing Sunday as a legislated day of rest in its newest proposal, Saving America by Saving the Family.

The late Pope Francis, in his Encyclical Laudato si, likewise drew much attention to the need to keep the Sabbath. In fact, he appealed to the nations and economic interests of the world to keep Sunday sacred. This he proposed would mitigate the climate crisis, save the planet from its rapid destruction, and take care of the poor and disenfranchised. Several countries and financial entities worldwide have positively responded by restricting commercial activity on Sundays.

The current pope, Leo XIV, is following in the same path as his predecessors. He continues to appeal to the nations of the world and all religions to join him in seeking the ‘common good’. This ‘common good’ translates’ into Sunday sacredness as is clearly outlined in the Roman Catholic catechism: “In respecting religious liberty and the common good of all, Christians should seek recognition of Sundays and the Church’s holy days as legal holidays. They have to give everyone a public example of prayer, respect, and joy and defend their traditions as a precious contribution to the spiritual life of society. If a country’s legislation or other reasons require work on Sunday, the day should nevertheless be lived as the day of our deliverance which lets us share in this “festal gathering,” this “assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven.” (R.C. Catechism, Section 2188)

These are not unrelated occurrences. Rather they are part of a coordinated effort to establish Sunday sacredness, which is contrary to the Word of Creator God, as an international day of rest and worship.

from sabbath to sunday large

The foundation for Sunday sacredness can be found only in Roman Catholicism which it adopted from pagan religions of old. Neither a Jewish Sabbath nor Sunday sacredness can be found anywhere in God’s word, the Holy Bible. In fact, both Old and New Testaments are replete with admonitions from our Creator to honor Him by keeping holy His Blessed Sabbath Day which He bequeathed to all mankind at creation (Genesis 2:1-3).

Moses reminds, us, “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it” (Exodus 20:8-11).

Jesus Christ, our Creator and Redeemer,  confidently confirmed that inescapable fact. He declared, “The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath; therefore the Son of Man is Lord also of the Sabbath” (Mark 2:28-29). Our Savior and Lord was not referring to Sunday, as the world has been beguiled into believing, but Saturday, the Seventh day of the week. Herein lies the dilemma with which all are faced and each must make a choice: either for the traditions of Leo,  Francis and their church; or for the authority of Creator God. It is a choice of eternal consequences couched in a drama of apocalyptic proportions. What choice will you make?

With all the buzz surrounding the Sabbath, you want to make sure you make the right choice.

“There was and is a command to keep holy the Sabbath day, but that Sabbath day was not Sunday. It will however be readily said, and with some show of triumph, that the Sabbath was transferred from the seventh to the first day of the week, with all its duties, privileges and sanctions. Earnestly desiring information on this subject, which I have studied for many years, I ask, where can the record of such a transaction be found: Not in the New Testament – absolutely not. There is no scriptural evidence of the change of the Sabbath institution from the seventh to the first day of the week.”
(Dr. E. T. Hiscox, author of the Baptist Manual).
